On December 4, 2002 a group from Sirius Travel traveled into Australia's Outback between Woomera and Roxby Downs to view a total eclipse of the sun. 29 seconds of totality, perfectly clear skies, an eclipse close to the horizon (no neck ache!) and a great group of people to observe with made for a fantastic experience. Here are the photos from our latest eclipse trip to Australia as they come in. Enjoy! -Vicky

Notes:
Because of the geometry of this eclipse - the near perfect match between the angular size of the sun and moon and it's location low on the horizon as the shadow was sweeping off the side of the planet - made for some interesting effects that I, for one, have never seen before. These include:
- VERY strange shadow effects
- a vivid Chromosphere that drew attention away from the Corona
- a colorful sky crowding in on the eclipsed sun
