2002 Eclipse Trip through Australia
November 30, 2002 - December 15, 2002

In December 2002 Sirius Travel led 15 travelers to the Australian outback to view the last easy-to-access solar eclipse until 2006! Leaving from the U.S on November 30, 2002, we proceeded to the eclipse site near Adelaide, South Australia. There, on December 4, we viewed a perfect total solar eclipse - standing under the moon's shadow as it raced across the surface of the earth. The eclipse in Australia occured near sunset and there was no better place to observe the eclipse. We had perfectly clear skies and lovely weather. Combined with an outstanding group of people in a quiet spot directly on the centerline - this was an incredible experience! During our nights in Woomera we also observed the beautiful southern stars under the dark clear skies of the Australian Outback. Away from the town lights we even saw a very bright zodiacal light. Quite a nuisance!

Sirius Travel provides tour guides with extensive astronomical knowledge and experience as well as all the equipment required to safely view a solar eclipse, including eclipse viewing glasses and a small telescope(s) with the proper filters. All of our astronomical tours are extensively researched by our astronmers in advance to maximize success. There is no better way to fully appreciate such a magnificent event!

In order to insure the best possible hassle-free astronomy adventure, Sirius leads small groups. Space is limited on all of our tours so if you are interested in any of them be sure to contact us promptly!
